Navigating the Website

1. Logging in to DICC

Programs can access the site at www.dermcompetency.com. At the account login screen, you can input your program's user name and password. Each residency-training program has already been assigned a unique username and password to access the site. After logging on, your group will be able to select a case. The link will first take you to a list of all currently active case studies, as well as provide you access to past case studies recently completed. If your group is ready to start a new case, you can click the link to be taken directly to the archives. There are three entire curriculum sets of cases. It is recommended that your group choose a column and proceed down that column over the course of a year. The following year, your group can choose cases from a different column. Typically the group should not need to do cases from the same row in the same year as the topics and objectives will significantly overlap. Once you decide on the case to start, click on the link to open the case.

2. Adding Facilitator and Learners in Attendance

Before beginning the case, one group representative should log in the case facilitator and all learners present. This helps to document each individual learner's participation in competently discussing questions and objectives as determined by the facilitator. You may add a learner before the case begins, or at any time during the case. Once the learners in attendance have been recorded, proceed to the case content.
If there is a learner who arrives late, you can mark the person present by clicking on the checkbox next to their name.
The learner will recieve credit only on questions after they are marked present.
Example. Session starts at 9a.m and you competently discuss questions 1 and 2. Barbara comes late and arrives at 10a.m, you then mark her present. Barbara will not recieve competency credit for questions 1 and 2, she will only recieve credit for questions that are marked "competently discussed" after 10a.m.

3. References Link

During the discussions of the competency curriculum, the group should not halt the learning process by trying to look up answers to questions that are unknown. Write these down on your list of group-defined objectives. After the discussion session has ended, however, the website contains resources that can be used to access various free online resources and search engines to help you answer the unknown objectives. At the end of the case, helpful case-specific resources will also be found at the bottom of the objectives page. If you feel that you know of a beneficial resource not currently included for a particular case, please feel free to email us with that feedback by clicking on the HELP tab.

4. Help Section

Particularly during the early implementation of this curriculum, it is important that you provide us feedback, both with case suggestions, content questions, process questions, and any other feedback. By clicking on the help tab, you can contact us and provide us your questions, comments and feedback, all of which are very important to help the curriculum move forward and maximize competence.
