Every program is different. Every program
provides different conference times, has different areas
of emphasis, has different numbers of learners or available
and interested faculty members participating. The design
of this curriculum is not meant to be rigid, but rather
as a moldable tool for programs to adapt and adopt as
necessary to fulfill a competency assessment need. To
achieve the highest likelihood of success with such a
curriculum, each program should realize the time commitment
necessary to maximize learning in this curriculum. Dabbling
in the integrative competency curriculum while maintaining
the usual subject-oriented resident responsibilities will
likely undermine the success of this style of learning.
This does not mean that this must become the only form
of learning for a residency program.
Participating programs will be asked to provide feedback
to the effectiveness of this curriculum and identifying
opportunities for improvement. Facilitators will be just
as important as the learners in providing feedback.
